What is a Partner in Education?

The Partners in Education program is a structure established by Gateway College of Evangelism to build a network of donors who strengthen and support the College. A Partner in Education is anyone who makes a consistent financial contribution to Gateway College.

Who can become a partner?
  • Anyone who believes in Apostolic education.
  • Anyone who loves the Lord and wants to bless the ministries of Gateway College.
  • Anyone who has a heart for world evangelism and wants to make a difference.

Are there different types of partners, and how much do they give?

Gateway College has designed six types of partnerships based on giving levels below:

Level

Contribution Amount

Presidential Partner

$200 per month

Foundation Partner

$100 per month

Platinum Partner

$75 per month

Gold Partner

$50 per month

Silver Partner

$25 per month

Bronze Partner

$10 per month

Why Partners in Education?

The Partners in Education program affords friends of Gateway College the opportunity to give back to the College both in terms of prayer and financial support. Because of our partners, Gateway is able to continue in its mission of preparing men and women for Christian ministry, Church leadership, and world evangelism.

The primary benefit for the College is the broadening of its support base to help facilitate the next phase in the development of the College. It will allow Gateway to be perceived as a national college, which will potentially draw more students and attract a larger donor base. Partners in Education will have influence in the direction and development of the College.

Will Partners in Education be required to give special offerings for unexpected needs?

No, however, special needs may arise and members may be solicited for special projects or unusual expenses. Nevertheless, participation will be voluntary.

Why is Gateway College seeking accreditation and how does that impact Partners in Education?

There is an ever-increasing number of Apostolic students attending colleges and universities while the number attending our unaccredited Bible Colleges is shrinking. There may be a number of reasons for this trend, but students and their parents often ask about accreditation and imply that this is a deciding factor in their college choice. We are convinced that Gateway offers a quality educational product that continues to improve. A growing number of prospective students will not consider attending Gateway because of its lack of accreditation. Being accredited will open the door to more potential kingdom workers for Gateway to train. Support from Gateways Partners in Education will assist Gateway in the expenses necessary to achieve accreditation.

Will accreditation compromise Gateways doctrinal distinctives?

The only accrediting associations that care about doctrinal statements are Christian accrediting association like the Association of Biblical Higher Education (formerly known as AABC) and TRACS. They refuse to grant us accreditation because of our understanding of the Godhead. Secular accrediting associations, however, are interested in educational quality and issues of governance and financial healthnot doctrinal stances. These organizations are only concerned with inspecting how effectively we fulfill our mission. Gateway is seeking accreditation with a secular accrediting association that has assured us that our doctrinal position is not a hindrance to accreditation.

What steps has Gateway taken toward accreditation?

Over the past decade Gateway has made significant, deliberate steps towards accreditation. The curriculum has been revised to reflect the necessary changes required by an accrediting association. The library holdings have been broadened and the number of books, journals, and electronic resources has greatly increased. We recently completed the necessary financial audits to comply with accreditation standards. The faculty has been developing manuals, handbooks, and assessment instruments that meet accreditation standards. Also, the facultys educational credentials now meet accreditation standards, with several faculty members are working on their doctorates. Gateway has used its resources wisely and now stands poised to become accredited.

Did you know?

  • Gateway subsidizes approximately $1500 of each students education beyond tuition.
  • Gateway spends 11% of annual expenses awarding unfunded scholarships to foreign students who could not otherwise come to Bible College.
  • Many worthwhile projects at Gateway are pending funding from our donors.

Other Ways to Give

Cash - Cash gifts are convenient and tax-deductible if you itemize. Up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income may be charitably deducted with a five-year carryover of any unused deduction.

Life Insurance - A gift of life insurance allows you to give a gift larger than you might believe possible. When you give a charitable gift of life insurance, the cash value of the existing policy results in an immediate charitable deduction for you. Continued gifts for premiums are also deductible Gift Annuities. The college has a gift annuity program which provides an annual income, usually paid quarterly, in exchange for a gift of cash, securities, or other property. The interest paid is usually much higher than that paid in typical savings accounts and is based on a person's age and whether there is one life or two lives involved.

Matching Gifts - Many companies will match their employees' gifts in part or one-to-one to charitable organizations. This is an outstanding opportunity to multiply your gift and increase your stewardship at no cost to you. Contact your Human Resources department to see if the company has a matching gift program, and if so, what the guidelines are.

Planned/Estate Giving - Contact the college to inquire into options for planned/estate giving. College personnel may be able to assist you in developing a will or living trust at no or reduced cost to you.

Property - If you give property that has been owned for a long period of time, you not only get to deduct the difference of what you paid versus the current value, you do not have to pay capital gains tax on the profit.

Stocks - The above is true of gifts of stock also. You want to be sure to give the stocks themselves to the college rather than sell them and give the proceeds which will cause you to have to pay capital gains tax on the profit.
